A couple with a love of classical artifacts built a Greek Revival temple to domestic life on the Connecticut-New York border. It is a house that looks from the outside like the Parthenon and on the inside feels like a home in the country, which it is. It also proved to be a perfect match of style and painting contractor: Anton Sattler, Inc.’s Old World sensibilities echoed the owners’ tastes and collection. The company’s skilled artisans used antique mottled glazes on walls throughout the house for the soft, unobtrusive mood. Paulin Paris hand stenciled the fresco borders at the tops of the master bedroom walls and living room.
