Turn of the Century Townhouse

View All

Victorian Male probably best described this woodwork-dominated drawing room in a turn-of-the-century townhouse in Manhattan’s East 70s. Now, however, a lighter mood prevails. Working with a prominent New York designer, the company cleaned and stripped the original oak paneling and cabinets, then polished and stained the wood to resemble rich mahogany. Gilding was applied to pick up reflected light and provide contrast.

The richness and depth of this hand-French polished door (see slideshow left) helps turn a newly-renovated apartment into a timeless home.
