New Urban Library
Home library sounds dark and stuffy—a cluttered room of heavy woodwork and dusty volumes. But the very opposite is the case in this new urban library, fashioned out of an existing room and part of a terrace with unobstructed views. Working with a river of light, the company glazed the cases and other woodwork in the room to a warm, toasted-almond glow, then gilded highlights on the moldings and trim and the curtain rods and rings. Where dust motes might have rested, sunlight now dances off the bookcases and spines.
