Hamptons Paradise

This “cottage” style estate and summer dwelling in Long Island’s Southampton was cleverly remodeled to seamlessly blend the owner’s unique style and quirky sense of classicism. The Carolina blue hues in the master bedroom and adjoining rooms were a result of twelve applications of material to create a pristine, hand-rubbed lacquer-like finish.

The snappy sheen created by the company helped to achieve the designer’s goal of conjuring up an inviting, playful and energetic atmosphere perfect for enjoying an easygoing summer weekend at the beach.

Landmark Manhattan Apartment

When two large apartments were combined in a landmark Manhattan building not long ago, the merger created a magnificent space of Edwardian proportions. While grand and formal for entertaining, the owner’s wife required rooms that were also cozy and child-friendly. The apartment’s plaster ceilings and walls were restored, painter’s canvas affixed, and pale, mottled glazes applied throughout to provide a base for highly decorative painting and stenciling. The effort has had a warming effect on the vast, new apartment. Meanwhile, in the elaborate dining room (above), and in other rooms in the apartment, layers of old paint were painstakingly removed from the mahogany woodwork and the surfaces were then French polished.
